Crafting Change
Am exhausted now after so much travelling. Either self is working too hard or is simply getting old, cranky, fragile, and crumbling to death (okay, sorry for the drama). Finally got to Downtown East for the Handicraft Fair & Exhibition 2003 organised by the Prison Service, SCORE and ISCOS. Missed entirely the morning performances but am feeling somehow "compensated' for all the hard work (i.e making / designing posters, flyers, coupons and banners) after seeing products of hard work displayed prominently all over.
As expected, business of selling prison inmates' handicraft is not really moving on as fast as desired, but methink the intention of making the public aware that prison is NOT a place of idleness is a success. And that prison inmates are given a chance to make good of their time inside in preparation for the successful reintegration into society (party tag-line here, hehe) is aptly presented. Will be going there again tomorrow for "pasar-malam" duty (bleagh!)
